Bringing the sector together is an important part of what FST do and all of our networking events are structured in a way that facilitates both formal and informal networking:
There are four FST members meetings a year in various locations across Scotland. Each meeting has a theme, around which the main presentations and discussions are focussed. Additionally, the meetings include an open exchange session, when the attendees can talk about their current projects, ask for advice or share their thoughts on any issues within the sector. There is also an informal networking drink at the end of each meeting.
- FST also coordinates a variety of specialist forums throughout the year. The current forums are around the areas of Dance, Producers, Touring and Technical Leadership and provide the opportunity for skills and knowledge exchange alongside networking.
- Each August, FST organise an informal networking event to celebrate Scottish dance, opera and theatre on the Edinburgh Festivals
- Emporium is FST's flagship networking event. Since 2015, it takes place over two days: the Early Dialogue Day has been added to help artists start a dialogue with venues / promoters about their show ideas which are at very early stages of development. The Marketplace day is a day of presentations, one-to-one meetings and an open exchange session for artists / producers who have shows to sell or venues / promoters looking to take shows. Find out more about Emporium from its dedicated page.
Information on all forthcoming events can be found on the events page.
