Mentor Applications are now closed and will reopen in May 2017.
Step Up is a unique professional development programme which provides professionals from a range of specialisms across the performing arts sector with coaching and mentoring skills to be able to support (mentor) colleagues (mentees). The Step Up training programme also enhances mentors' workplace leadership and management skills.

What’s the time commitment?
Nine selected applicants will be expected to commit to attending 3 separate training days.
The training dates are as follows:
- Training Day 1 - 22 September 2016
- Training Day 2 - 5 October 2016
- Training Day 3 - 3 November 2016
At the end of your training days, you will be matched with two mentees, who will have applied to take part in the programme. Formal mentoring will begin mentoring in January 2017.
You will meet your mentee between 6 to 8 times from January over 10-12 months. During this period you will be supported by your trainer / executive coach via face to face and / or telephone, as well as two half day supervision workshops to share progress and experiences with Step Up colleagues.
The supervision workshops dates are as follows:
- 16 March 2017
- 8 June 2017

This programme is free to FST Full and Individual members. Associate members who are interested in becoming mentors can access the programme for a fee of £200+VAT.

Step Up was co-devised by Abigail Carney, Jane Hogg and Paul Pinson and first delivered in association with FST in 2008. Abigail and Paul will deliver Step Up 9: Paul will lead on training and supervising and Abigail on project management and mentor / mentee recruiting and matching.
