Creative Scotland has announced the Regular Funding decisions for 2015-18. It is a mix of good and bad news for FST members.
Some companies have been cut or had reduced or standstill funding, alongside others who have seen an increase or who will receive longer-term funding for the first time.
FST will be analysing the information announced today and assessing, in dialogue with members and with Creative Scotland, both the strategic context for the decisions and what they mean for the longer term health and viability of the dance, opera and theatre sector.
In terms of FST’s funding, Creative Scotland has decided to focus Regular Funding primarily on organisations who directly make or present creative work. We understand the rationale for this focus and have been reassured by Creative Scotland that they do intend to support FST to deliver strategic support to the dance, opera and theatre sector and they have invited us to discuss our ongoing strategic role in the coming weeks.
