We are saddened to learn of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. We extend our sympathy to the Royal Family.
As we communicated to members on Thursday 8 September and as reaffirmed in formal UK Government guidelines, there is no current expectation that scheduled performances should not go ahead. The exact guidelines state: “There is no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues during the National Mourning period. This is at the discretion of individual organisations. As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral. They are under no obligation to do so and this is entirely at the discretion of individual organisations.”
The State Funeral has been confirmed as Monday 19 September 2022.
Appropriate marks of respect include observing two minutes’ silence, playing the national anthem and opening books of condolences prior to the performance.
