The Board of FST would like to inform members and other stakeholders that Fiona Sturgeon Shea has tendered her resignation as Chief Executive and will leave the organisation in May. We want to express our deepest gratitude to Fiona for her dedicated leadership during a time of considerable uncertainty and change for both the organisation and the Scottish dance, theatre and opera sector as a whole. Under her guidance, FST has undergone a detailed strategic review and re-structure to better enable it to support and advocate for the performing arts going forward.
While we will miss Fiona’s expertise and tireless dedication to artists and organisations making and presenting work in Scotland, she leaves FST in a strong position with a dedicated and experienced new team, clear strategic aims and in a secure funding position. The Board are now working on plans for a smooth transition and recruitment of a new CEO and will update members about this in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we want to extend our thanks to the brilliant staff team who will continue to deliver on the mission and priorities of FST and remain fully committed to serving our members.
Fiona Sturgeon Shea commented, “It’s been a tremendous privilege to be entrusted with the role of Chief Executive at FST, and I am very grateful for the opportunity. The past four years have presented both anticipated and unexpected challenges! I have learned a great deal as a result, especially from FST’s brilliant members who have inspired and generously supported the organisation’s new strategy. I’m not going far, and I’m around till May. I intend to remain firmly part of the performing arts community in Scotland, though in a different capacity than my last 14 years leading small but powerful national organisations. My sincere thanks to all my past and present colleagues, including board members, for their commitment, skill, and guidance. Your contributions were essential to everything we accomplished.
