The Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) is launching State of Play a national research study profiling the Performing Arts sector in Scotland. Results of the survey will give FST crucial information on the health of the sector that will inform future actions, priorities and critical advocacy.
FST is calling on everyone who works and volunteers in the professional Performing Arts in Scotland to play a part in the research and help inform the change needed for the sector’s future viability.
You do not have to be an FST Member to take part.

About State of Play
What will the survey(s) be used for?
Results of the study will give FST and wider cultural policy-makers and planners crucial information on the health of the performing arts that will inform future actions, priorities and critical advocacy.
Who should take the survey(s)?
We are calling on everyone who works and volunteers in the professional Performing Arts in Scotland to play a part in the research and help inform the change needed for the sector’s future viability.
How do I get involved?
There are two surveys one for the entire workforce/individuals (live now, from 4-31 August), and one for organisations (live from mid-August).
Are my answers anonymous?
All data and responses in the Workforce Survey are anonymised and you can find out more about this process and Privacy Policy here.
Who is conducting the survey?
This survey is being undertaken on behalf of FST by 56 Degree Insight, an independent market research agency based in Edinburgh. 56 Degree Insight work for clients across a wide range in different areas and have a great deal of experience working with organisations in the arts and culture sector, helping them to better understand audiences, participation trends and to inform future strategy.
