FST Members' Meeting - Thursday 9 December 2021
1pm - 5pm (networking to 6pm)
Please join us for our December Members' Meeting, the first hybrid event FST has ever hosted!
We are delighted to be back in person at Assembly Roxy, Edinburgh, for speakers, discussion and networking, including lunch from 1pm and drinks from 5pm – 6pm. We’ll briefly report on normal FST business, including an update on the strategy development work. There’ll also be an opportunity to engage in open exchange in a fully safe way.
Your safety is the most important thing so we have put in place a whole range of measures to ensure this:
- All members are asked to take a lateral flow test in advance of attending and to only attend if this is negative
- Seating laid out to maximise social distancing
- Masks worn throughout the event
- A ‘traffic light’ system to indicate your comfort with how close you want to be with others
- Thorough hygiene measures in place
Can’t make it? Join us online!
For those of you who wish to join us from the comfort of your own home or office, the event will be livestreamed so that you can listen to the speakers, take part in discussions and experience alternative ways of networking online. You can register for the in-person event on this page but if you’d rather attend the online meeting, visit this page.
Agenda and papers will be circulated closer to the event along with COVID protocol guidance for attendees.
Open for All?
Six months on from the easing of COVID restrictions on public performance, what does being open really mean and what lessons have we learned from the pandemic?
Who is in the room - whether that’s a rehearsal room, a performance space, an auditorium - or a Members’ Meeting - and who isn’t? And, once we are in the room, how is everyone being treated?
We have invited three speakers to stimulate our thinking about openness, equalities and what we can do to improve everyone’s health, wellbeing and safety:
Yahya Barry – will talk about his expertise in inclusive approaches to creativity and culture in direct partnership with, and in support of, a diverse range of communities in Scotland and how this will influence his work as a board member of Creative Scotland.
Robyn Jancovich-Brown, as an independent producer, will give her personal perspective on putting people before project outcomes when resources – people, money and time – are scarce; and putting in place working practices that ensure physical, mental and emotional health
Elaine Stirrat, freelance actress and activist, will update us on the background to FST’s new Harassment in Performing Arts Working Group which she Co-Chairs with Lisa Sangster (theatre designer and trained sexual violence support worker) and the changes it hopes to effect.
