Still Magic: Digital Creativity and Engagement in the Performing Arts / Festive Networking Drinks / Morning FST Members Meeting

Friday 9 December 2022 | 10.30am – 6pm | The Lighthouse, Glasgow

Still Magic is open to FST members and non-members

“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.” Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

This winter, we are running our December events a little bit differently.

Our regular Members Meeting will precede a special day-long collaborative event with Creative Scotland. Still Magic will explore the significant pivot to digital production and presentation that happened during lockdown and the innovations that led up to that moment. What lessons, skills, and ways of doing things did we learn? What are the possibilities for the future in enhancing creativity, extending the live experience, engaging audiences, and embracing different working practices or models?

Who is it for?

Still Magic is open to FST non-members and members alike. There should be something for everyone and attendance is welcomed from artists of any discipline, creative learning practitioners, leaders of teams or organisations, marketers, programmers, producers, promoters, technicians, or anyone else working in the performing arts.

What can I expect?

  • Short, inspiring, practical case studies from colleagues who have combined live performance and digital presentation in their work for some time, as well as those who shifted swiftly to work in this area to enable access or develop creative or business models.
  • Showcasing and practical demonstrations to give attendees a flavour of solutions such as VR and online platforms created to enable the sector to work better and smarter.
  • Sharing and learning together with colleagues in a relaxed, informal environment through round table discussions
  • Informal networking over lunch and festive drinks open to everyone
  • A morning Members Meeting for FST members to catch up on our work, current issues, and hear updates from the team

Will it be available online?

Predominantly a live event, the main presentations will be live-streamed and there will be an option to engage in round-table discussions online with online participants.

Location: The Lighthouse, 11 Mitchell Lane, Glasgow G1 3NU

The Lighthouse is within a short walking distance of Queen Street and Central railway stations, Buchanan Street and St Enoch Underground Stations and Buchanan Street Bus Station. Please consider the environment when choosing your transport options. Car share options can be posted and found here.
