Please join FST at a special event marking the achievements of the HiPA Working Group and thanking you for your ongoing interest and support of their work.

In autumn 2021, FST established a short-term working group of experienced performing arts practitioners to develop a practical response to sexual harassment in the performing arts. The Working Group was led by Lisa Sangster (theatre designer and trained sexual violence support worker) and Elaine Stirrat (actress and activist.)

Following extensive and thoughtful input and feedback from numerous individuals within the industry, through professional advice from FST’s legal partners Anderson Strathern and ongoing encouragement from FST members, the Working Group has now created two practical guides:

  • Navigating sexual harassment at work - a guide to support freelancers and individuals
  • Tackling sexual harassment at work - an action guide for performing arts organisations

We hope that they are an important source of guidance for individuals working as both freelancers and employees, and for those within organisations responsible for implementing policies and dealing with their practical application.

The launch, to which we and the HiPA Working Group would like to invite you, is an opportunity to hear from the people behind the guides and those who championed the project over the past few years.

The speakers are Elaine Stirrat (Co-Chair, HiPA), Jemima Levick (A Play, A Pie and A Pint) and Liam Sinclair (Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre, FST board.)

Refreshments will be provided and speeches will be BSL interpreted.

More information about the work of the HiPA working group and FST’s work in combatting abuse is available on the FST website
