We’ve teamed up with Creative Carbon Scotland and the Theatre Green Book, to present the Scotland launch of the Theatre Green Book’s 2nd edition, with all 3 sections: Productions, Operations and Buildings, in one place and new easy-to-use Excel tracker tools.

Thanks to the expertise of Creative Carbon Scotland and funding from the Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG), theatre organisations all over the world will be able to quickly and accurately calculate their main carbon impacts: the carbon-heavy new materials that go into sets, building energy use, travel and transport.

More information is available from the newly developed Theatre Green Book website, including details about how to apply for the new role of Theatre Green Book Director.

The Launch

We’d love as many FST members to join us for the launch and hear more from Theatre Green Book Co-ordinator, Paddy Dillon, about the ambitions for the Theatre Green Book, and some of the successes to date. Gemma Swallow, Technical Director at NTS, will talk about NTS’ journey to Intermediate Standard for the majority of productions, and their ambitions to achieve this for their buildings and operations. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and discuss aspects of the Green Book with Gemma and Paddy.

Members' Meet Up

Prior to the launch, we’ll have lunch and networking; a short members meet up; and, several chances to catch up with one another and other colleagues from the sector committed to environmental sustainability.

How the day will go

  • 1pm - 2pm Sandwich lunch and informal networking
  • 2pm - 2.45pm Members Meet Up, updates from FST and open exchange
  • 2.45pm - 4pm Green Book 2 launch and presentation – open to the wider community
  • 4pm Drinks and more informal networking

The event takes place in the Festival Theatre,13-29 Nicolson St, Edinburgh, EH8 9FT.
