Bright & Wild 2023 – Artist Commission x4 (Lyra)

Lyra is looking to commission four experienced Lead Artists (1 x Dance, 1 x Music, 2 x Performing Arts) to create four new performance pieces for the 2023 Bright & Wild festival in collaboration with children and young people from Greater Craigmillar in Edinburgh (Lyra’s Young Artists).

Job Title: Lead Artist x 4 

Contract: Fixed Term Freelance, 8 months  

Hours: Weekly sessions for 3 Terms covering 26 weeks, including 1 induction, 2 days delivering taster workshops, 2 days intensive rehearsal and 5 days in production week. (31 days at £155 per day)  

Location: Artspace, 11 Harewood Road, Edinburgh EH16 4NT and in the Greater Craigmillar area. Meetings may also take place online. 

Deadline: Friday 12 August 2022, 12 midday 

Each Commission includes: 

  • Lead Artist fee of £4,805  
  • A budget of £2,000 for materials and collaborators
  • Free theatre and studio space at Lyra
  • Free hot desk office space at Lyra
  • Facilitator and Youth Arts Worker to collaborate with and support the sessions
  • Producer, creative mentoring and dramaturgical support
  • Opportunities to share the progress of the work with audiences and industry professionals
