Creative Producer – Cumbernauld Theatre Trust

Cumbernauld Theatre seeks a Creative Producer to join our vibrant team as we prepare to move to a brand-new performing arts venue in Cumbernauld. 

The Creative Producer is a new role for the organisation and an opportunity to work with some of Scotland’s leading artistic talent in an exciting new era for performing arts creativity and innovation.  

The principal purpose of the post is to produce 7 in-house productions per year and to co-ordinate the development of an appealing, high-quality programme of professional performing arts events by visiting companies. 

The Creative Producer will work closely with the CEO and the Artistic Programming Steering Group. The role of this group is to develop a relevant and reflective set of priorities to steer artistic programming policy and serve in an Executive Production capacity to support the management of productions and programme.  

It is our ambition that the post-holder will develop, through a collaborative process, an appealing, engaging, and high-quality programme that cultivates existing, and reaches new audiences. Whilst ensuring the artistic programme is viable and sustainable financially, it must support the wellbeing economy and be rooted in the principles of place-based working. The programme of work will reflect the objectives of key stakeholders and meet our responsive organisational planning targets as well as the strategic cultural ambitions of Scottish Government. 

The Creative Producer will be responsible for negotiating key terms with creatives, agents, and producers, drafting contracts and assessing visiting work for its suitability in line with the theatre’s ethos and ever-evolving artistic policy priorities. 

The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis with a 6-month probationary period. The role will require evening and/or weekend working according to the needs of the service. 

The salary is £30,000 per annum. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus 6 fixed statutory public holiday dates which can be taken flexibly.  

Full-time hours are set at minimum 35 hrs per week, but at busy times the working week may extend to 40hrs. No additional salary will be paid for weeks that require a 40hr work plan. The Theatre operates a time-off-in-lieu system for hours worked above 40 hours in any one-week period.
