Production: Jennie Lee: Tomorrow Is A New Day, November 2024
Knights Theatre are an Angus based theatre company led by playwright and Artistic Director Matthew Knights. Knights Theatre engages communities with social issues by exploring social history. We do this by creating contemporary plays which are bold, entertaining, imaginative and thought-provoking and by delivering inspirational creative writing workshops. We aim to empower communities through a shared exploration of the past, and inspire them
to change the world.
Jennie Lee: Tomorrow Is A New Day is a play by Matthew Knights about the radical Labour politician Jennie Lee who was born in Lochgelly, Fife in 1904. After being elected for North Lanark at age 24 as one of the first female MP’s before she could vote she went on to become the first ever UK Minister for the Arts and founder of the Open University. The play
will be presented at Lochgelly Centre and Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy in November 2024 in partnership with ONFife and the Open University in Scotland, supported by Creative Scotland.
We are looking for a Stage Manager who can help the company deliver this exciting production in Fife where Jennie Lee’s story has a powerful resonance. There is potential for the applicant to form a relationship with the company for future productions and tours.
We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about theatre and care about work which challenges and inspires and reaches new people.
You will have previous Stage Manager experience with strong organisational skills, an eye for detail and an ability to work under pressure. You will enjoy working with a Production Manager, technical staff and creative team to ensure the production goes smoothly. You will be based in Scotland and a driving license and ability to drive a company van and/or hire vehicles would be an advantage.
