Surge, in partnership with Merchant City Festival and Spraoi Festival are offering bursaries to emerging, Scotland-based artists and/ or companies interested in developing new outdoor arts works.
The aim will be to create a new outdoor arts piece, which will integrate social distancing into its form and look from the development stage. We are specifically interested in work with environmental themes to tie in with Glasgow’s upcoming COP26 conference.
The chosen artists/companies will be given a budget of £2500 towards the creation of the piece plus mentoring from Surge, rehearsal space, all accommodation, travel and food for performances at additional events. Performances at Spraoi and COP26 will pay £100 per performer per day.
We also encourage applications involving the use of digital technology – additional specialist mentoring would be provided for this.
The performers need to be available for rehearsal periods between 1stApril and 2nd of July 2021. Specific dates will be discussed upon offer. Availability also required for dates of festivals – 3rd and 4th July (Surge Festival), for some of 1st -12th of November (COP26) and an additional weekend in August/September (Spraoi, tbc)
