Aberdeen Performing Arts

Aberdeen Performing Arts is the cultural hub at the heart of the arts, community and civic life in North East Scotland, making a creative contribution to city centre regeneration, social change initiatives, community cohesion and placemaking. We are active members of Culture Aberdeen, a network of arts and cultural organisations driving the cultural strategy for the city. We play a crucial role not only in uniting and leading the cultural sector but also in the creative, social and economic fortunes of the region.

We manage three city centre venues on behalf of Aberdeen City Council: His Majesty’s Theatre, Music Hall and The Lemon Tree, all on a national and international touring circuit for the performing arts. We produce and curate work, festivals and we act as a talent pipeline for artists and creative practitioners. Annually we welcome more than 400,000 people to our performances.

Our creative engagement team works with adults, families and young people, particularly in vulnerable communities across the North-east. We provide affordable and accessible opportunities in the performing arts on our stages, in schools and in community settings. We encourage the widest participation in the arts including people with protected characteristics and from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We co-design our creative engagement work with communities and young people.

Aberdeen Performing Arts is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status incorporated in July 2002. Aberdeen Performing Arts Trading Ltd, runs our commercial operations - food and beverage, conferencing and merchandising.
