The CatStrand is an exciting and inspiring new community and arts centre based in the Glenkens village of New Galloway which opened in September 2007. The centre provides a comfortable, accessible and state of the art venue, with a 90 seat auditorium, digital cinema facilities, a gallery, gift-shop and training room with IT suite.
The CatStrand (named after the small stream which runs through the building as part of a permanent art installation) offers a varied choice of high quality arts and community events, including a year round programme of theatre, music, comedy, dance, storytelling, workshops, exhibitions and films, plus free public internet access, IT classes and a selection of health & fitness courses such as Tai Chi and Pilates style body conditioning. Visitor information on local heritage and nature is available at The History Stop and the CatStrand shop sells local crafts, gifts, maps and books.
In addition to presenting this broad range of facilities and services the CatStrand offers flexible space available to hire. Complete with high spec sound, lighting and digital projection, it is ideal for small to medium scale corporate, training and conference events.
