Cutting Edge Theatre
CUTTING EDGE THEATRE PRODUCTIONS AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
"Making a change through transformative theatre"
AIM: Cutting Edge Theatre exists "to make a difference in people's lives where the process is as important as the end product"
We do this by:
Enabling young people through the INSPIRE project. Working with young people who have learning difficulties/disabilities, helping them to discover their talents, learn new skills and gain confidence. Using drama techniques all designed to help specifically with confidence, self-esteem and vocal issues. This project includes developing employment skills and opportunities.
Engaging with Communities, through mainly open air promenade Passion and Nativity plays which encourage adults and children alike to be part of a community play where the process of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills etc is as important as the play itself.
Developing potential in prisons through working with offenders here and abroad by mentoring them to be able to create productions and learn new skills in that process. We have worked in two Scottish prisons as well as overseas [America, Italy and Brazil].
Addressing contemporary issues through Drama productions for example - suicide, teenage pregnancy, self-harm and other relevant issues that affect young people.
Presenting our work to a public audience through productions. We aim to stage a professional production every two years. Currently working on a number of productions including "Downs with Love" and a large scale Easter 2021 production.
