Marc Brew Company
Marc Brew Company is a disabled led, queer trailblazing contemporary dance company that collaborates with diverse artists to create powerful & emotive dance productions for touring nationally and internationally that inspire and provoke change.
Since 2003, we have reached over 30,000 people through touring our live performances in theatres, outdoor spaces and festivals (including Edinburgh Fringe and the Commonwealth Games) in over 13 countries across the world from the UK to Qatar to Australia. In Scotland we’ve reached communities from the Borders, through the central belt up to the Western Isles.
We’ve increased our reach and engagement through the production of our dance films (Renewable and Logue) which continue to be screened by international film festivals from Nuremburg to Venezuela, to Australia, garnering many awards and critical acclaim.
The company continues to travel the world delivering masterclasses, training and workshops on inclusive practice, and creative workshops for young people and masterclasses for professional disabled and non-disabled dancers. Organisations, such as the British Council regularly invite the company as an advocate for disabled artists and to participate in their programmes - Unlimited and Europe Beyond Access - and to share the Artistic Director’s methodology and practice.
Through our current work an Accident/ a Life – directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, we are breaking barriers by presenting the work within regular festival programmes.
Building on our past achievements and the breadth of our practice, demonstrated in our artistic plan, our engagement strategy supports our aim to be ‘a catalyst for change, though our performance and inclusive engagement’ by increasing access to contemporary dance performance and opportunities.
We believe through difference there are possibilities.
