Royal Lyceum Theatre

The Lyceum is Edinburgh's premiere large scale producing theatre. It has a strong reputation for creating a varied range of quality drama with high production values.
The company operates from the beautiful Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh (a City Council-owned venue built in 1883 for the theatrical impressarios Howard and Wyndham). It has a strong subscription audience, a major strength of the organisation in its ability to sustain and develop its present activities. Mark Thomson is the current Artistic Director/CEO. The company was founded in 1965 under the directorship of Tom Fleming.
There is a very popular adult theatre programme, accompanied by drama classes, backstage tours, public discussion nights, talks by writers, directors and designers and an annual open day.
The highly regarded Education department is spearheaded by an extensive programme for schools including workshops, outreach and resource packs. The Company also offers a range of other activities for young people, a flagship Youth Theatre (LYT) and a summer school.
