Magdalena Schamberger
I am an independent theatre director, creative collaborator, consultant and teaching artist, combining 30 years of experience in physical & visually driven theatre and clowning with 20 years of creatively engaging with people living with dementia.
I am passionate about using creativity and the performing arts to engage, collaborate and co-create with people living with dementia and have a long-standing commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people through high-quality arts provision. I am Co-founder and former Artistic Director of Hearts & Minds, Scotland.
I have devised Curious Shoes, a collaborative performance for people living with dementia and their loved ones, which has toured extensively to theatres, care homes, day & community centres throughout Scotland and the UK. I have also developed Artful Minds, an experiential training initiative for artists of all art-forms and deliver Compassionate Clowning workshops to organisations across the globe.
I am an Honorary Professor with the School of Health Sciences at Queen Margaret University and Creative Facilitator for Bold (Bringing Out Leaders in Dementia), a social leadership project using arts based techniques, supported by the Life Changes Trust.
