Morna Young

Morna is a Scottish based Creative Practitioner. She has worked as a playwright, musician, actress, facilitator, director and producer.
She holds BA Journalism (University of Sheffield) and MA Acting (The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama).
As a journalist, Morna trained with companies including The Sheffield Star, HallamFM and Dazed and Confused magazine. She was arts/lifestyle columnist for The Northern Scot (UK and Scotland's newspaper of the year) in 2012.
Morna won a New Playwright's Award 2014. Her full-length play, LOST AT SEA, is in pre-production following a sold out rehearsed reading in Lossiemouth (co-produced by Stellar Quines, Out of the Darkness and Moray Council) and a secondary reading at The Finborough's Vibrant Festival. Other credits include: NETTING (A Play, Pie and a Pint at Oran Mor and The Lemon Tree), NEVER LAND (Eden Court) and B-ROADS (Play Pieces). She has performed extracts of her work at the Scottish Parliament, the European Authors' Festival (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland) and National Poetry Month (France).
As an actor, she has worked for companies including the National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Lyceum and Beacon Arts Centre. A multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, she has composed for several theatre shows and performed with Kevin McKidd's SPEYSIDE SESSIONS and THE FISHWIVES (recent appearances include The One Show and BBC Breakfast). She is an Associate Artist of Out of the Darkness Theatre Company and tidy carnage.
Morna is currently based between Moray and Glasgow.
