Tomaž Krajnc

Tomaž was born in Celje, Slovenia. After finishing a psychology undergraduate course at the University of Ljubljana, he applied to MA Classical and Contemporary Text at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he recently graduated in theatre directing.

He has been involved with theatre for over 15 years, first as an actor but in the last decade focusing more on working as a director.

He has directed many publicly and critically acclaimed shows. The biggest success so far was The Pillowman, which became the first play in the 54-year history of the Linhart Festival to receive all four awards (Best Play, Best Direction, two acting awards). An authorial version of Macbeth was also a big success. For it, he received a special award for original directorial ideas at the same festival.

He also works in film. He has directed four films, three short films and a longer documentary film. His first film, Broken Memories (Razbiti spomini), was selected for the competition part of the 15th Festival of Slovenian Film, and his last film, Control Panel (Nadzorna plošča), came third in the Muvit film marathon. His latest film-related project was a web series Dualism (Dualizem), which broadcasted online at www.dualizem.com.
