Calum John Kelly

My name is Calum Kelly. I'm playwright & director. Since graduating, my partner (Taylor Dyson) and I formed our Dundee based company Elfie Picket. Our focus as a company is to create political theatre that is aimed toward audiences that wouldn't consider themselves regular theatre goers.

We previewed our first show Ane City at the Prague Fringe (2019); this was a one woman show written and performed by Taylor Dyson (directed by myself) combining elements of Scots Language, comedy and spoken word. This was then programmed for a full-run at the Assembly Roxy at Edinburgh Fringe (2019) as winner of the ART Award receiving critical acclaim. Ane City was programmed for March 2020 at Dundee Rep, however this has since been postponed.
Our second show The Union & The Crown was programmed at Assembly Roxy's "Season of Protest" in November 2019. This was a show I wrote and directed and was a piece of Agit Prop aimed as a criticism toward British Imperialism & Brexit. We then brought this show to a community centre in Dundee and were in the process of arranging further performances before the pandemic.

Recently, our company has received Creative Scotland funding to create our new community show Dolly Parton Saved my Life which I directed.
