Liz Carruthers
I am a freelance theatre director. I was born in Edinburgh and am now Glasgow-based. I have been a director for over 30 years. I am also a lecturer in acting.
I was trainee director at Perth Theatre, Staff director at Chichester Festival Theatre and Artistic Director at Cumbernauld Theatre. My work has been seen at (among other places) the Traverse, the Tron, the Citizens' Theatre, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Oran Mor, MacRobert, Dundee Rep, Finborough Theatre, the Gate and touring venues from village halls to number one venues all over Scotland and the rest of the UK.
I have collaborated with writers at all stages of their careers from development days to full productions. This has been at the heart of my career as a director.
I lecture at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and am a freelance theatre educator.
