Day 1: Getting Ready For International Touring

Course Content
The entire course (3 days) covers the whole spectrum of overseas work: from approaching promoters to freight, tax, visas, negotiations, contracts and sustaining touring in the long term. However each day of the course is designed to be self contained so participants can attend either one, two or all three days depending on what works for them. Who is the course aimed at?
The course is designed for theatre, dance, live art, cross art form and public art practitioners, either individuals or companies.
It will benefit both those who have yet to export their work and those who have already undertaken overseas working but would like to increase their knowledge.
Trainer bio
Kate Bowen is a freelance Consultant and Producer for theatre, dance, live art, cross art form work and public art. She was most recently Consultant Producer with David Leddy/Fire Exit (Glasgow). Other companies and artists she has worked with include Subject to Change (London), Made in China (London), Ivor MacAskill (Glasgow), Dancing Brick (Milton Keynes), NVA (Glasgow), Artichoke (London), Andy Manley (Edinburgh), Barrowland Ballet (Glasgow), Gate Theatre/Dance Umbrella (London), The Work Room (Glasgow), Stillmotion (Glasgow), Unlimited Theatre (Leeds), Arcola Theatre/Iceni Productions (London), Necessary Angel (Canada), Byre Theatre (St Andrews) British Council (Scotland and London) and for many years she was Executive Producer with Theatre Babel (Glasgow).
She has taken small, mid and large scale performances to venues and festivals throughout the UK and across the world in countries as diverse as Canada, Malaysia, The Philippines, Taiwan, USA, Japan, Brazil and India.
She has been the recipient of three SAC Professional Development Awards and an FST/Creative Scotland Producer’s Bursary.

Attendance Support
Please note there are a limited number of travel bursaries (up to £50) available to members for journeys of 50+ miles from locations within Scotland. Additionally those who have caring responsibilities, can also apply for bursaries up to £50.
Bursaries are allocated on a first come first served basis. Bursaries are awarded per member organisation or individual member, not per attendee. This means that only one bursary of £50 is available per company although it may be used towards more than one individual’s travel costs.
