Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) welcomes the publication of the Independent Review of Creative Scotland and its recommendations. We were pleased to engage with the process on behalf of our members from across the performing arts in Scotland, and we appreciated the opportunity to amplify the experiences and concerns of organisations and individuals working throughout the sector. We see many of those experiences reflected in the published Review, and commend the Review team for their enthusiastic engagement with the arts sector.
The review provides a broad and detailed consideration of the structures and approaches that have shaped public support for the arts in Scotland in recent years, with some clear recommendations for the future. We recognise this as an important moment for our sector, and one that will require careful, collaborative attention in the months ahead.
We will take time to examine the Independent Review of Creative Scotland and recommendations in full and to understand their implications for performing arts organisations, independent practitioners, and the wider cultural landscape. FST will continue to work closely with our members and partners, including Creative Scotland, to co-create a stronger future for the performing arts in Scotland.
